Lauren Luna is a sought after visual artist and
designer. Born and raised in Columbus Ohio, Luna has been sharing her
artistry with the world for over 10 years.
At
an early age, Lauren knew what she wanted to be when she grew up: a famous
artist! Unlike other young adults whose childhood aspirations usually
change, Luna’s desire to be an artist remained. Immediately after high
school, Luna went directly to college in pursuit of her dream. While
studying at Kent State University’s School of Art, she learned that there
were a variety of opportunities for promising artists in New York City.
Realizing the importance of being at the center of the art industry, Luna
began to travel to New York City twice a year and eventually moved there
in 2001 to work as a visual designer for Bloomingdales and as a gallery
assistant at the renowned Cinque Gallery.
Luna’s art is an expression of freedom and is her way of sharing her joy
and creativity with the world. Never one to be pigeon holed into a certain
genre, Luna’s art ranges from painting that are politically charged and
direct with their messages, to free flowing abstracts where she draws upon
her love of music to create vibrant works of art to cityscapes in which
her love of New York City and other big cities come shining through.
Most recently Luna has moved her art from the canvas onto a new surface;
shoes. Forming a company baring her name, Lauren Luna Ltd. specializes in
custom shoes; from sneakers to stilettos. Her customized shoes have been
seen on the feet of radio personalities, popular music artists, and
underground fashionistas. She has been featured in a myriad of blog
websites ranging from independent radio to fashion forums, and internet
networking sites.
Luna holds a Bachelors of Fine Art focusing
in Painting from Kent State University, a MA in Education from Manhattan
College, and is currently back in school pursuing her Masters of Fine Arts
from the Academy of Art University, based in San Francisco, California.
She now resides in Columbus, Ohio with her seven year old son.
